Kitap
Kwakwaset Bari is a Nilo-Saharan language spoken by about 500,000 people along the Nile River, primarily in extreme Southern Sudan but also in Uganda. It is a major language used by Anglicans in the Episcopal Church of Sudan, as well as in the Sudanese diaspora. Photos and a video of a service in Bari are available online. This translation of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer does not include a date of publication or a copyright notice, but it appears to be the title identified as 11:2 in David Griffiths’ Bibliography of the Book of Common Prayer 1549-1999. It was published during the tenure of Oliver C. Alison (1908-1989) as Bishop of the Diocese of Sudan (1948-1976). This book was initially issued in 1953, and reissued in 1956, 1963 & 1968. The text is presented here in two ways: first, the entire book is available
as PDF graphics (see link at the bottom of this page), and, second, the
main services (Morning Prayer through the Eucharist) are additionally
given as HTML text through the links immediately below.
