Special Forms of Service Sanctioned for Use in the Church of the Province of New Zealand (1914)

Until 1958, the 1662 Book of Common Prayer was the only authorized standard for Anglican worship in New Zealand. Special Forms of Service was published in 1914 to supplement the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; it was superseded by revisions in 1924 and 1959. (“The Church of the Province of New Zealand” was the name of this church from 1874 until 1992, when it was changed to “The Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.”)

Modern-language equivalents for and adaptations of many of the liturgies in Special Forms of Service are included in A New Zealand Prayer Book / He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa (Auckland: Collins, 1989).
