The Book of Common Prayer | |||||||

This paperback book from 1925 examines the legal basis for translations of the Bible and Book of Common Prayer into the Welsh language. This question, among others, arose from the disestablishment of the Church in Wales in 1920 and the fact that a great number of Welsh translations of the Bible and Prayer Book had been made, but very few had any sort of authorization by the Church. This question today is, of course, moot as far as the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is concerned, as the Church in Wales has its own BCP and has made its own Welsh translations of it. However, this book is still of interest as it also gives a history of Welsh translations of the Bible and BCP, and, in an extensive Appendix, gives introductions (many translated from the Welsh) from a number of Welsh Bibles and Prayer Books. The Table of Contents is given below. The entire book is presented here in PDF format with extractable text. This text has not been proofread and undoubtedly contains some errors.
