The Confession and Absolution may form part of the Introductory Rites. Priest: God is love, and we are his children. There is no room for fear in love: we love because he loved us first. All: We confess to God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and to all our fellow members in the Body of Christ, that we have sinned in thought, word and deed, and in what we have left undone. Silence Most loving Father, where sin has divided and scattered, may your love make one again; where sin has brought weakness, may your power heal and strengthen; where sin has brought death, may your Spirit raise to new life. Priest: God who is both power and love, set you free from your sins, help you to new ways of living and give you the power and healing of his Holy Spirit. LITURGY OF THE SACRAMENT THE TAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE WINE 15 The bread and the wine are placed on the altar and the alms of the people may be presented. THE GREAT THANKSGIVING 17 All Stand Priest: The Lord be with you. THE POST-COMMUNION PRAYER 24 The texts before the following prayers may be used either as sentences or as versicles and responses. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is gracious. We have broken the Bread which is Christ’s Body, we have tasted the Wine of Life; we thank you for these gifts by which we are made one in Jesus and drawn into that new creation which is your will for all mankind; through him who died for us and rose again, your Son, Christ our Lord. Amen. In Advent: Father, we thank you for feeding us with the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ. At Christmas: Father, we thank you for feeding us with the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate at this time. We give thanks for the countless blessings which he brought to us, and ask you to grant that we may always bless you in joyful obedience to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. For the Epiphany and the Transfiguration: Father, we thank you for feeding us with the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ. During Lent: Father, you increase our faith and hope, you deepen our love in this communion. Help us to live by your words and to seek Christ, our Bread of Life, who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen. For Passiontide: Lord, you have satisfied our hunger with this eucharist. The death of your Son gives us hope and strengthens our faith.
