HYMN, if needed

Priest or Reader

O God, make speed to save us;
    O Lord, make haste to help us;

    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Spirit;
    As it was in the beginning, is now, and always shall be: for ever and ever. Amen.

Praise the Lord;
Praise the Name of the Lord.

PSALM 119. 1-8

HAPPY are those who are innocent in the Way: and walk in the law of the Lord.
  2. Happy are they who keep His words: and look for Him with their whole heart.
  3. Those who do no evil: walk in his ways.
  4. For you have told us: to take care to follow your commandments.
  5. Let my ways be made so firm: that I may keep your rules.
  6. So that I shall not be put to shame: while I keep my eyes on all your commandments.
  7. I will thank you with a true heart: when I learn your good teaching.
  8. I will keep your rules: leave me not altogether.
    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Spirit;
    As it was in the beginning, is now, and always shall be: for ever and ever. Amen.

Or PSALM 119. 9-16

HOW shall a young man keep his way clean?: by guiding it by your word.
  10. With my whole heart I looked for you: let me not go wrong from your commandments.
  11. I have hid your word in my heart: so that I should not sin against you.
  12. Blessed are you, Lord: teach me your rules.
  13. I tell with my lips: all that your mouth teaches me.
  14. I am as happy in your words: as a man who is very rich.
  15. 1 will think about your teaching: and keep my eyes on your ways.
  16. I will be glad in your rules: and I will not forget your word.
    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Spirit;
    As it was in the beginning, is now, and always shall be: for ever and ever. Amen.

LESSON

To the King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God—to him be honour and glory for ever! Amen.

1 Timothy 1. 17.

Thanks be to God.

Reader—

Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on us;
  Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on us.

Jesus you sit on the right hand of the Father;
  Have mercy on us.

    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Spirit;
    Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on us.

O Lord, rise up and help us;
    And save us for the honour of your Name.

(All kneel)

Lord, have mercy on us.
  Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.

OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. Amen.

Let my mouth be full of your praise;
  That I may sing of your glory and greatness all the day long.

Turn your face from my sins, O Lord;
  And rub out all that I do wrong.

Make me a clean heart, O God;
  And put a new and right spirit within me.

Do not drive me away from your face;
  And do not take your Holy Spirit from me.

Give me again the joy of your saving power;
  And strengthen me with your free spirit.

Reader and people—

WE confess to God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and before the whole company of heaven, that we have sinned in what we have thought and said and done, through our own faults and we pray God to have mercy on us.

GOD, you rule over all, have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins and save us from all evil, make us strong to do good and bring us to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

(If a priest is there he shall stand up and give this absolution)

MAY the merciful Lord forgive you, put away all your sins, give you time to mend your lives, and the grace and help of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reader—

Will you not turn again and give us new life;
  That your people may be glad in you?

O Lord, show us your love;
  And give us your saving power.

O Lord, we ask you to keep us this day free from sin;
  O Lord have mercy on us, have mercy on us.

O Lord, hear our prayer;
  And let our cry come to you.

Let us pray.

(The collect for the Day may be said here)

The Collects to be used in the daily services are found on pages 19-44.

On Saints’ Days use only the Collect for the Saint, but on Sundays say the Sunday Collect with the Saint’s Day Collect.

LORD, Ruler of all, we pray you to guide and rule our hearts and bodies in the doing of your commandments, that through your great power both now and ever we may be kept safe in body and soul, through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Lord be with you;
    And with you.
Let us bless the Lord;
    Thanks be to God.

THE Lord bless us, and keep us safe from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life, and may the souls of those who died in faith, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
