| THE LITANYO GOD the Father,
in heaven. O God the Son, the Saviour of the world. O God the Holy Spirit, coming from the Father and the Son. O holy blessed and glorious Trinity, three Persons and one God.. Do not remember, Lord, our evil doings, nor the evil
doings of those before us, and do not punish us for our sins, pity your
people whom you have, set free with your dear blood and do not be angry
with us for ever; From all evil and accident, from sin, from the traps
and power of the devil, from your anger, and from ever lasting death; From all blindness of heart, from pride, from loving
to be great, from pretending to be good, from bitter thoughts of others,
from hating and wishing to hurt, and from all that is against the law
of love; From adultery and all sins that kill the soul, from
the lies of the world, the body and the devil; From lightning, storm and earthquake, from deadly sickness,
from dying of hunger, from war and murder, and from dying suddenly when
we are not ready; From not obeying those over us, from talking against
them secretly and openly, from all untrue teaching and wrong belief
and divisions in the Church, from a hard heart and thinking little of
your word and commandments; By the wonder of your becoming man, by your
holy birth and circumcision, by your baptism, fasting and temptation; By your bitter pain and sweat of blood, by
your cross and sufferings, by your death and the burying of your body,
by your glorious rising again and going up to heaven, and by the coming
of the Holy Spirit; In all our times of trouble, in all our happiness,
in the hour of death and in the day of judgement;
| We sinners pray you
to hear us, Lord God, that it may please you to rule your holy Catholic
Church in all the world in the right way; That it may please you to shine in the hearts
of all Bishops, Priests and Deacons, that they may truly know and understand
your Word, and in their preaching and living may make it clear; That it may please you to send more workers
into your harvest; That it may please you to bless and keep all
your people; That it may please you to bless your servants who take
the good news to those who do not know it (especially...............); That it may please you to help us to love and fear
you and to be keen to follow your commandments; That it may please you to give your grace to all your
people to hear humbly your Word and to receive it with pure love and
to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit; That it may please you to bring back into the way of
truth all who have gone wrong, whom Satan has led away; That it may please you to strengthen those who stand,
to help the weak, raise up those who fall, and in the end to beat down
Satan under our feet; That it may please you to keep and strengthen in your
true worship, in a good and holy life your servant Elizabeth, our Queen
and ruler, (and the President of France); That it may please you to give your power to the High
Commissioner (Resident Commissioners) and all officers of the Government
that they may be wise and understanding; That it may please you to bless and keep all the members
of the Governing Council (Advisory Council); That it may please you to bless and keep the leaders
of our people and their councils that they may lead us in the right
way; That it may please you to bless and keep the judges,
giving them grace to be just and make clear the truth; That it may please you to give peace to all the nations
that they may be of one mind and heart; That it may please you to help and comfort all who
are poor, in danger or in trouble; That it may please you to keep safe all who travel
by land, or air, or water; That it may please you to keep safe all women having
a child, all sick people and young children and to have pity on all
who are in prison; That it may please you to guard and care for all orphans,
and widows, and all who are lonely or unhappy; That it may please you to have mercy on all men; That it may please you to forgive our enemies, and
those who hurt us by what they do and say, and to change their hearts; That it may please you to give and keep for our use
all kinds of food from the gardens and from the sea so that in the right
time we may enjoy them; That it may please you to give us a true change
of heart, to forgive us all our sins, all that we forget to do and all
that we do wrong because we do not know better, and to fill us with
the power of your Holy Spirit to mend our lives by your holy word; Son of God, we pray you to hear us.
| The Litany may end here if Holy Communion follows. O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,
O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the
world,
OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. Amen. A PRAYER OF S. CHRYSOSTOM ALMIGHTY God, you have given us grace at this time to ask with one mind for those things needed by us all, and promise that when two or three are gathered together in your Name you will give what they ask. Give us now, Lord, what your servants long for and and ask, as may be best for us, that in this world we may may know your truth and in the world to come have everlasting life. Amen. 2 Cor. 13 14. THE GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship with the Holy Spirit, be with us all for ever. Amen. |
