LITANY OF THANKSGIVING Let us praise God for his kingdom being set up in all the world. THE kingdom of this
world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ; We give you thanks, Lord God Almighty, who
is and was and is to come, You are fit, Lord, to receive glory and honour
and power: We thank you O God, for health by which we are able to work, For blessings given us as the reward of work, For knowledge of you and of your works, For food and for all things we need for our souls and bodies, I will give thanks to you, While all your works praise you, O Lord, and your saints
give thanks to you, My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and let
all men give thanks to his holy Name, for ever and ever. Amen. |

Let us give thanks for those who love us. For the love of father and mother, For the love of teachers and friends, For all who have been kind to us, or have helped us in sickness, To God our Father, who first loved us, For all whom the Lord has saved, For faithful lives of those you sent, For heathen brought into the Church, For lives laid down in your service, We thank you, O Lord our God, that you have made known to us the Gospel of your love. We worship you as our Lord and King; for you are fit, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power, for ever and ever. Amen. OF THE SUFFERINGS. GOD, the Father in Heaven; God the Son, the Saviour of the world; God, the Holy Spirit; Holy Trinity, One God; Jesus, Son of the living God, born of Mary; By the wonder of your becoming man and by your holy life and example; By your prayer in Gethsemane, by your great suffering
and sweat of blood and being willing to die; Jesus, given up to your enemies by the kiss of Judas,
left alone by your apostles, and taken prisoner by your enemies; Jesus, whom Annas and Caiaphas called guilty, whom
they beat and spat on; Jesus, whom they laughed at, and would not believe, whom Pilate beat
and bruised, and said must die; By the carrying of the cross to Calvary; By the nailing on the cross; By the crown of thorns; By your doing of God’s will till death; By your bearing of our sins in your own body; By the pouring out of your dear blood; By your bearing of pain and by your humility; By your five most holy wounds. By your death and being buried in the grave; |
|
We sinners pray you to hear us that we
may die to sin and live a holy life; We pray you to hear us, good Lord. That we may take up our cross every
day; That we may glory only in the cross of Christ; That your blood may make us clean from all our sins; That we may follow the blessed steps of your most holy
life; That we may share your sufferings and your glorious
rising again; O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the
world; O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the
world; O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the
world; O Saviour of the world who by your cross and dear blood
have set us free; OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. Amen.
Let us pray. O LORD Jesus Christ, our merciful High Priest, you offered to the Father a pure offering to make sinners one with God, by the wonderful power of your life, your sufferings and your death, help us, we pray you, to die to the world and live to you alone, and at the end to go out m peace, through the saving power of your life and death who live and rule with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. |

FOR MISSIONS TO THE HEATHEN. O GOD, the Father, who made of
one blood all the peoples of the world; O God, the Son, who saved all men from the power of darkness; O God, the Holy Spirit, who moved on the face of the
waters, giving light and life; O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Three persons
in One God, our Maker, our Saviour and our Power for a holy life; By the holy wonder of your becoming man; By your death on the Cross; By your prayers for us in Heaven; By the sending of the Holy Spirit; By your being always with us in the Church; We sinners ask you to hear us that it may please you
to bless your Holy Church which you bought with your dear blood; We pray you to bless all missionary Bishops,
Priests, Deacons, Brothers and Catechists; We pray you to send your Spirit on the church
in our islands, that all here may know your saving power; We pray you to bless the Brothers and their
Companions, to give them wisdom and understanding and keep them safe
in all dangers; We pray you to move the hearts of those whom
you are calling to join them that they may offer themselves for this
work; We pray you to give them fruit from the seeds
they sow that the heathen may be converted to you; We pray you to bless all who learn and write and print
the languages of the people to whom they go, that all may hear in their
own language of your saving power; We pray you to bless the work of your Church in New
Guinea, to call men and women to work there, and to bless the Bishops
and all whom they shall send out among the heathen of that island; We pray you to bless the work of your church
among the people of Polynesia in Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and the many islands
of the sea, and among the people of India and China who have made their
home there; |

We pray you to bless
the native people of Australia and the Torres Straits Islands that they
may know your saving power; We pray you to bless the Missions to the peoples of
Indonesia, Malaysia and South East Asia and all who work and pray for
them; We pray you to bless the people of India, Pakistan,
Ceylon and Burma and to lead them from the teaching of Buddha and Mahomet
to the clearer light of the teaching of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; We pray you to bless the people of China, Korea
and Japan, to shield and strengthen your Church in those lands and bring
them all to the worship of you the true God; We pray you to bless the people of Egypt and
the countries of North Africa that they may turn again to the Christian
faith; We pray You to bless all those who have not
known you in South America, and bring them to you; We pray you to bless the work of the Church
in Africa, their leaders and all whom they send out, and to bring the
many peoples there to find peace and friendship for one another through
knowing you as their Saviour; We pray you to strengthen the weak, bring back
the sinners, hold steady those who are tempted, and deepen the faith
of those who stand firm, in those places, where many are Christians
in name only. We pray you to forgive your people for turning
from you, their Saviour, and to bring them to know and love you and
to put their trust in you;
OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. For yours is the rule and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen. LET us thank God for his blessings on the work of his Church among the heathen in all parts of the world.

to the Holy Spirit; |

O GOD the Father in Heaven: O God, the Son, the Saviour of the world: O God, the Holy Spirit, coming from the Father and the Son: O Holy, Blessed and Glorious Trinity, Three Persons and one
God: Do not remember Lord, our evil doings, nor
the evil doings of those before us, and do not punish us for our sins,
pity your people whom you have set free with your dear blood and do
not be angry with us for ever; From all evil and accident, from sin, from
the traps and power of the devil, from your anger, and from everlasting
death; From all blindness of heart, from pride, from
loving to be great, from pretending to be good, from bitter thoughts
of others, from hating and wishing to hurt, and from all that is against
the law of love; From adultery and all sins that kill the soul,
from the lies of the world, the body and the devil; From lightning, storm and earthquake, from deadly sickness,
from dying of hunger, from war and murder, and from dying suddenly when
we are not ready; From all untrue teaching and wrong belief and
divisions in the church, from a hard heart and thinking little of your
word and commandments; By the wonder of your becoming man, by your
holy birth, by your circumcision, by your baptism, fasting and temptation; By your bitter pain and sweat of blood, by
your cross and sufferings, by your dear death and the burying of your
body, by your glorious rising again and going up to heaven, and by the
coming of the Holy Spirit; In all times of trouble, in all our happiness, in the hour
of death and in the day of judgement; We sinners pray you to hear us, O Lord God, that it may please
you to rule your Holy Catholic Church in the right way; That it may please you to shine in the hearts of all bishops,
priests, and deacons, that they may truly know and understand your word,
and in their preaching and living may make it clear; That it may please you to bless the orders of Bishops, Priests
and Deacons in your Church; That it may please you to fill them with your
Spirit and make clean their lips; That it may please you to strengthen the work
of your Church in all the world .......................................
and to send out more men to work in your garden; That it may please you to raise up shepherds
of your sheep after your own heart, who will work for you with all their
strength; That it may please you to save them from all
evil; That it may please you to help them, so that all who
see and know them may be able to respect their work and the right to
rule that has been given to them; That it may please you to help them that they
may always celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Eucharist in a holy life; That it may please you to help them that they
may always show men the love of your Holy Name and Sacraments; That it may please you to bless your servants
who are to be made priests (deacons) and to pour your grace on them,
that they may rightly do the work given to them for the good of your
Church and the honour of your Name; That it may please you to help them to give
body, mind and spirit to you and work for you with their whole heart; That it may please you to fill their minds
with your Word, and to give them the light and power of your Holy Spirit
to love your commandments; That it may please you to help them with your power to bring
many to you to be saved; That it may please you to help them to celebrate
rightly your Holy Sacraments and by their life and teaching show men
the truth of your holy word; That it may please you to be always with them
in their work for you, giving them in all things the spirit of power
and love rightly to rule their own lives; |
|
That it may please you to fill their hearts
with love for their people; We pray you to hear us, good Lord. That it may please you to
guide and bless all members of the Postulants guild; Son of God, we pray you to hear us; O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; O Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world;
OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. For yours is the rule and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen. Let us pray. LET us pray for these men ............................. now to be made deacons (or priests). GOD, for your glory and the saving of men, you made your only Son a great high Priest, may it please you that those whom he has chosen to work with him and to have the care of his holy things, may truly do the work to which they are called by you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (For priests only) LORD Jesus Christ, a priest for ever, may it please you that all who on earth are called to be your priests may follow day by day in your blessed steps and may show in their lives and in their teaching your love and your hatred of sin, hating sin and loving the sinner, that they may deal gently with all men and because of you make themselves the servants of all; who live and rule with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. GOD, the Holy Spirit, the Giver of all good gifts, give to those who work for you the spirit of wisdom that they may teach your people the words of eternal truth, and the spirit of holiness, that they may go before them and lead them to their home in heaven, where with the Father and the Son, you live and rule, one God for ever and ever. Amen. THE GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship with the Holy Spirit, be with with us all for ever. Amen. |
