A PREPARATION FOR HOLY COMMUNION 1 In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. GOD, without you we arc not able to please you, may your Holy Spirit guide and rule our hearts, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. LORD Jesus Christ, you are about to come to us in your holy Sacrament, prepare our hearts for yourself. (Hymn—Meditation or Address) GOD, help me to see my sins as you see them, that I may truly repent and be forgiven. SILENCE WE confess to God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and before the whole company of heaven, that we have sinned in what we have thought, said, and done, through our own fault, and we pray God to have mercy on us. GOD, you rule over all, have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins and save us from all evil, make us strong to do good and bring us to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Then, if a Priest is there, he shall say— MAY the merciful Lord forgive you, put away all your sins, give you time to mend your lives, and the grace and help of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let us ask for faith in God GOD, help us to draw near with faith and be made strong in our fight. against the temptations of the world, the body and the devil. Let us pray that we may be hungry and thirsty for our spiritual food. LORD Jesus Christ, may we come hungry and thirsty to the Sacrament of your love and receive heavenly food and drink from you. Let us pray for faith in Christ coming to us in the Blessed Sacrament. GOD give us faith as we come to communion that we may be sure that you are there. Let us pray to be made one in the Holy Sacrament. GOD, you have made us one family in Christ. May we be made more and more one among ourselves and with all the Company of Heaven, through communion with you in the holy Sacrament. Let us pray for holy fear. GOD, when we make our communion may we come near with holy fear and love, that you may welcome us to your holy table. Let us pray that we may not be afraid to come because of our sins. LORD Jesus Christ, you have told us to come without fear to the throne of grace, give us courage humbly to obey so kind a call. O SAVIOUR of the world, by your cross and dear blood you have set us free; Save us and help us, we humbly pray you, Lord.
As men wait for the morning so do we wait for you, Christ. Come with the new day and make yourself known to us in the breaking of the bread for you are our God for ever. Amen. OUR FATHER in heaven, holy be your Name, your rule come, your will be done, in the world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our food for today. Forgive us what we do wrong as we forgive those who do wrong to us. Bring us not into trouble to try us, but save us from evil. For yours is the rule and the power and the glory for ever and ever. A PREPARATION FOR HOLY COMMUNION 2 In the Name . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (Hymn. Meditation or Address)
The Lord be with you; And with you. Then the Priest (or Reader) shall say— JESUS said, Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.’ For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood Jives in me and I in him. Remember the words of his Apostle, St. Paul. T HE cup of blessing which we bless it is a sharing of the blood of Christ, and the bread which we break it is a sharing of the body of Christ. But let a man examine him self and so let him cat of that bread and drink of that cup. SILENCE So my brothers and sisters, let us humbly confess our faults to Almighty God. WE confess to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and before the whole company of heaven, that we have sinned in what we have thought, said and done, through our own fault, and we pray God to have mercy on us. GOD, you rule over all, have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins and save us from all evil, make us strong to do good and bring us to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
MAY the merciful Lord forgive you, put away all your sins, give you time to mend your lives, and the grace and help of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let us pray. DEAR Lord Jesus, you are coming near to us sinners in the sacrament of your body and blood, prepare our hearts to receive you; may we truly repent of our sins and believe that you saved us from them on the cross; may we truly wish to have our souls made clean, may we love you and all men, and so come near you. We are not fit to receive you in our hearts, but speak the word to make us worthy. Lord Jesus come to us to make us clean; Lord, come to us to heal us; Lord, come to us to make us strong; when we receive you let our sins never separate us from you, but may we be yours for ever till the day we see you face to face in your heavenly kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. LORD, you rule in heaven and in earth, we sinners wish to offer the sacrifice of the holy Eucharist, the memorial of the death of our Lord for us, that same sacrifice he offered once for all on the cross, that so doing we may praise and glorify your Name and thank you for the blessings you have given us. We offer it that we and all men may receive forgiveness of our sins and be set free, that we and all your Church may receive from you blessing and power, that we now on earth may at our death go in to your joy; and that those who have died may rest in peace and hope, and rise at the last to everlasting glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A PREPARATION FOR HOLY COMMUNION 3 JESUS CHRIST comes to me in holy Communion. He gives me his body broken for me and his blood shed for me. He gives me his life to feed my soul and strengthen my body. To prepare for receiving Jesus in holy Communion, I need Repentance, Faith and Love. Repentance. Think about your life to find out your sins. If you are worried about some sins, ask the Priest to hear your confession. O my God, I have sinned very much against you. I am very sorry that I have hurt you by my sins. I know that Jesus Christ died for me to set me free from sin. I trust in Jesus for my forgiveness, and with your help I want to obey you and put away all sin. Faith Love. WE do not trust in our righteousness, Lord, when we come to your holy table, but in your great mercy. We are not worthy even to gather the crumbs from under your table. But you are always merciful. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the body of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may evermore live in him and he in us. Amen.
