Amharic is the national language of Ethiopia, spoken by perhaps 25,000,000 people there. It is a Semitic language, and thus related to Arabic and Hebrew. It has its own, very ancient, writing system, which is syllabic - that is, each character represents a consonant + a vowel.
This Communion service, translated from the Church of England's Common Worship text, was prepared by the Anglican Church in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa in 2009.
The service is available for download as PDF graphics.
