The
Financial Picture

Much work has been undertaken to ensure that the very best use
is made of the more limited resources available to the Communion.

First of all the Archbishop of Canterbury is being advised on the preparation and style of the Conference by a Design Group chaired by Archbishop Keith Rayner from Australia and other Bishops from Brazil, Canada, England, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Africa, Tanzania and the USA. Canon John L Peterson, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, is Secretary to the Conference and David Long is the Conference Manager.

Secondly, a balanced Core Budget has been achieved which will meet the expenses of the forthcoming Conference. These expenses will cover all the essential costs of putting the Conference in place - Conference facilities, worship facilities, staffing costs, accommodation, communication requirements to name the elements.

Where help will be required is to provide financial assistance for those Bishops and their spouses who will not have the means to attend the Conference. It is estimated 250 Dioceses will need help in this way. The funds will help meet the travel, accommodation and other related expenses for a Bishop and spouse for three weeks in Canterbury. This is but one way the Anglican Communion members can share their wide range of resources, talents and experience with each other.

John L. Peterson, the Secretary General, said:

"If 250 people gave 5,000 British pounds each,
the goal will be quickly reached."
