England/World
The Anglican church is often referred to as the Church of England -- that's because the roots of our church are in the U.K. But the Anglican communion has a very strong presence throughout the world, especially in African countries. There are fewer Anglican resources online outside of North America, which likely reflects the smaller Internet presence in those countries.

The Basics

Special Anglicans Online! Feature: Lambeth 1998 Infocentre
Every ten years, each bishop in the Anglican communion attends the "Lambeth" conference to share ideas and discuss church policy. This Anglicans Online! Information Centre details the 1998 Lambeth conference.

The Church of England Official Home Page

Special Anglicans Online! Feature: Project Cuba: Wiring a Nation of Anglicans
In January 1996, the webmaster of Anglicans Online! travelled to Cuba with a ministry team from the national missions offices of the Anglican churches in Canada and the U.S. The task: To set up a national electronic mail network for the Diocese of Cuba to help the people keep communications channels open. This mini-site describes our trip and has a number of photos of the project as it developed.

Diaconal Association of the Church of England
DACE exists to help the Church of England to develop its distinctive diaconal calling and ministry, to promote the diaconate as a full and equal order, and to support those - both lay and ordained - in such ministry. The Diaconal Association of the Church of England is professional body for those engaged in nationally recognised Diaconal Ministries in the Church of England, and other recognised Anglican ministers in the Anglican Provinces of the United Kingdom who support Diaconal Ministry.

Prayer Book Society
Perhaps the single unifying thing in the Anglican communion is the Book of Common Prayer, considered by this group to contain "some of the most majestic and beautiful prose in the English language." Alternate prayer books are used by different provinces throughout the world.

Westcott House, Cambridge UK
Westcott House is a theological college in Cambridge, UK which trains women and men for service as priests in the Anglican Church. Featuring: The Surfer's Guide to Christianity! Alpha
The Alpha course is a ten week practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed primarily for non-churchgoers and those who have recently become Christians. It was established at Holy Trinity Brompton twenty years ago and there are now more than 4000 Alpha courses all over the UK and overseas. At HTB, Alpha courses are held throughout the year and have over 500 people attending each week.

Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament
The oldest devotional society in the Church of England for priests and laity founded in 1862. Associates of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament strive to promote reverence for Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist through the witness of their lives and words, through prayer and teaching. They undertake to pray for one another at the Eucharist and to make careful preparation for Holy Communion, including the observance of the Eucharistic Fast (in accordance with modern custom) and the use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They also provide grants of vessels and vestments for celebrating the Eucharist and reserving the Blessed Sacrament to poor parishes as home and abroad.
