Page Editor: Jim Warnock jwarnock@burgoyne.com Kenyan Anglican Archbishop David Gitari, speaking
to ENI, reported, "I told [President] Moi myself that his days are numbered
and his kingdom will crumble if he refuses to repent and accept
constitutional changes." Gitari's dramatic statement followed the violent
suppression of pro-democratic rallies and the storming of a
Cathedral by government police. In a related story, Anglican bishops
meeting in South Africa heard details of Gitari's protest. The Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, the Most Revd Njongonkulu
Ndungane, told his fellow African archbishops that it is time for
Africa to take its rightful place among the
nations of the world. He condemned tyranny, and hoped that Africans could
begin to control their own destinies. It's not just the U.S. Episcopal Church that faces the issue of
homosexuality.
