Dear All,

The situation is still the same, Kobra and his men have moved to Kagaba, 30 km to Bunia. Shy dialogue is taking off with government. And the negociated option is the one on line now, as the returned militia is taking over almost the whole of Gety area. A team from the Diocese led by Venerable John Zaba is going to Gety today to assess the situation. So far no attrocity is reported, people are traveling from Bunia to Boga. The food sent to Bukiringi arrived a day after Kobra and his men have moved to Gety. It was given to 361 families that have returned with the militia. Even though the militia have moved to Gety, Bukiringi people are still required to contribute food for them. So another part of the food was taken to Gety. We are going to support the families with the second food expedition. I saw the World Food Program in Bunia, they are ready to come in soon. Our prayer is that this time we experience total peace in Irumu South.

Dear All,

I wish to update you about the situation in Bukiringi. So far, the situation is calm in the area. Our truck left Bunia yesterday for Boga and arrived safely. I took some 3 bags of beans, 10 jerrycans of palm oil, 10 cartons of salt and soap. The cassava was taken this morning from Boga. We were able to get 50 bags as we wait for some money transfer to be effective.
The top leaders of the militia moved to Gety last evening. Gety is 50 km from Bunia to Boga route. The reason is that the Lendu Bindi administration is in Gety and they need to be closer to the chief. I had phone talk with the Archdeacon of Isura (Gety) and the Archdeacon of Bukiringi. The food is given to the local community to give to returned families and help them to get what to give when the militia come for food collection. The truck only left the food to the local community organized with the collaboration of the church committee headed by the Archdeacon.
So far the government is silent. The international community is also observant.
The Gety and Boga region comprises the highest parcentage of our congregations and social services such as schools and health centres. We need your prayers for the situation. People are still worried and confused. They don't know what will happen next.

Dear brothers and sisters,

I left Bunia Friday 24 February for Boga. Two events were worrying the community in Ituri. The Marabo brigade was threatening to desert the national army. The result was that the brigade was to be pulled out and sent for refresh training. At the same time, the Lendu militia led by Cobra Matata decided to leave the bush. I was informed by Archdeacon Badudu of Bukiringi that the militia are settled in Bukiringi and ready for negociation with the government. It was safe for me to travel from Bunia to Boga trough Bukiringi. Arrived at Sorodo, a few miles from Bukiringi I was stoped by a few armed militia. They only asked for some assistance for cigarettes, salt and so on. I gave them some 4500 Francs, equivalents to U$ 5. They told me they are waiting for talks with the government. I noticed that with time, they will be a threat to the population, if they have no food. Last Tuesday, the Archdeacon came to see me in Boga and said the govermnent is slow and
nothing is yet concluded. I called Hon Tibasiima John, Hon Upira, national minister of Public Services, General Amuli Deputy Chief of stuff in charge of operation and told them about the matter. I haven't got any positive response. Today, the Archdeacon called to tell me that the population that has not got enough food stock is under serious threat with the hungry men. Bukiringi, that is 15 miles from Boga, had its population living in IDP camps for years. To ask them feed a thousand militia is too much. And Boga may also face the consequences.
Please, I humbly request you to advocate, pleade and if possoble help the population of Bukiringi before the situation goes beyond control.
