Sunday 3 October 2010 - Choral Evensong (15.30)
Sung by the cathedral choir. Music will include Radcliffe
responses, the canticles, Wood in E flat, no. 2 and anthem
Wood 'Expectans expectavi'. The service will celebrate the
60th anniversary of the ordination of Archbishop Donald Caird,
and there will be a reception in the crypt afterwards.

Sunday 3 October 2010 - Autumn Taizé Service (19.00)
A special Taizé service will take place in the cathedral crypt
and main nave on Sunday 3 October 2010 at 7.00pm. This is
has been organised by the Diocesan Ministry of Healing and
the Diocesan Lay Ministry. The beautiful chants of Taizé will
accompany the liturgy which will be a Eucharist with the laying
on of hands. Everyone is welcome to the service. Further

Thursday 7 October 2010 - Mothers' Union Service (11.15)
The Mother's Union Eucharist will take place in the chapel of
St Laurence O'Toole (Lorcán Ua Tuathail) in the south transept

Friday 8 October 2010 - Diocesan Schools' Service (19.30)
The annual diocesan service for primary & junior schools
will take place on Friday 8 October at 7.30pm. The theme
will be the Water of Life, and an address will be given by
Martin O'Connor, Educatino Adviser to the Bishops' Appeal.
The collection will also be in aid of the Bishops' Appeal.
All are most welcome to attend.

Monday 11 October 2010 - Knabenchor Hösel Concert (13.15)
The Knabenchor Hösel is a choir of boys based in the church
of Adolf-Clarenbach, in Hösel, Ratingen in North Rhine-Westphalia
in Germany. The choir sings music from all periods, but with a
primary emphasis in the works of Bach and Mozart throughout
the church year. Recent tours have included the Frauenkirche
in Munich, Notre- Dame in Paris and St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Wednesday 13 October 2010 - Evening Prayer (17.00)
Due to the presentation of the silent movie in the cathedral
at 8.00pm, evening prayer at 5.00pm will replace choral
evensong at 6.00pm which was to have been sung by the
cathedral girls' choir and the choral scholars.

Wednesday 13 October 2010 - Jekyll & Hyde Silent Film (20.00)
A screening of the silent film 'Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde' (1920) 
accompanied by David Briggs, who will improvise the soundtrack
on the organ, will take place on Wednesday 13 October 2010
at 8.00pm. All are most welcome. Tickets are 15 and 12 Euro
(concessions) and are available from www.tickets.ie. A special
combi-ticket is available for both 'Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde' and 'The
Passion of Joan of Arc' (14 October), which are priced at 25 and

As part of a three-day festival celebrating the life of Irish composer,
Sir Charles Villiers Stanford, Adèle Commins will give a lecture

''A relic from a past age?' Charles Villiers Stanford's compositions for

Friday 22 October 2010 - Leinstrand Songlag Concert (13.15).
Leinstrand Songlag, a mixed choir from Trondheim in Norway will give a
lunchtime concert at Christ Church on Friday 22 October 2010 at 1.15pm.
Founded in 1928, it celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2008 and numbers
approximately 50 members. They are a versatile choir with a broad
repertoire,
including church music, pop songs, Norwegian Folk songs and more. This
is their first trip to Ireland. The current conductor is Bjørn Borge, who
studied
church music in Trondheim and Oslo and is currently the director of music
at Heimdal church. All are most welcome to attend. Further information can

Sunday 24 October 2010 - Irish Eucharist (17.00)
The eucharist will be said in Irish in the Lady chapel. This is held
on the fourth Sunday each month except July and December at
