Thursday 9 December 2010 - Concert: Trinity Orchestra (20.00)
Trinity Orchestra Michaelmas Term Concert conducted by Liam Ryan, 
and violin solo by Colm O'Braoin. Programme: Franck 'Symphony in D
minor', Shostakovich 'Violin Concerto No. 1', Dukas 'Brass Fanfare from
La Péri'. Tickets: €10 for adults, €5 for students (available at the door).

Saturday 11 December 2010 - Irish Association of Change Ringers (14.00)
The Eastern District of the Irish Association of Change Ringers will hold
their practise in the tower of Christ Church on Saturday 11 December from
2.00 until 4.00pm. Come along and enjoy some expert change ringing.

Sunday 12 December 2010 - Choral Evensong @ St Patrick's (15.15)
Choral Evensong sung by the combined choirs of Saint Patrick’s &
Christ Church cathedrals will take place at St Patrick's cathedral
on Sunday 12 December at 3.15pm, where the anthem will be
Handel 'Messiah' (part one) with orchestra.

Sunday 12 December 2010 - Taizé Service (17.00)
A special Taizé service will take place in the cathedral crypt
and main nave on Sunday 12 December 2010 at 5.00pm. This is
has been organised by the Diocesan Ministry of Healing and
the Diocesan Lay Ministry. The beautiful chants of Taizé will
accompany the liturgy which will be a Eucharist with the laying

This year the Charity Carol Service is in aid of Huntington’s disease. 
The music will be provided by the Cathedral Girls’ Choir.

Tuesday 14 December 2010 - Concert: New Dublin Voices (20.00)
New Dublin Voices celebrates 500 years of Christmas music.
On Tuesday 14 December at 8.00pm, the multi-award-winning
chamber choir and its conductor Bernie Sherlock, will perform a seasonal
concert programme in Christ Church ranging from the beautiful simplicity
of plainchant to much-loved carols, some in their traditional form, others
in sparkling new arrangements, others upbeat and jazzy. NDV will also
sing items from its new CD Christmas with New Dublin Voices – an
ideal Christmas gift! Highlights include: Poulenc: Four Christmas Motets
Britten 'Hymn to the Virgin', Sandstrom 'Es ist ein Ros', plus many favourite

Sunday 19 December 2010 - Service of Five Lesson and Carols (15.30)
In place of choral evensong this Sunday, the service will
take the form of a seasonal five lessons and carols.

Monday 20 December 2010 - Service of Nine Lessons and Carols (20.00)
Sung by the cathedral choirs. Music will include works by Warlock, O'Carroll,
Leighton, Howells and Poulenc, as well as new compositions by lay vicar
choral Tom Lane and organist David Bremner. Free tickets can be obtained
by sending a stamped addressed envelope marked ‘Nine Lessons’ to the
cathedral office. This is a very popular service so those interested are
encouraged to apply early for tickets.

Christmas Eve, Friday 24 December 2010 - First Eucharist of Nativity (23.00)
Sung by the cathedral choir. The setting is Charpentier 'Messe de
minuit' and communion motet is Villette 'Hymne a la Vierge'. The
dean, the Very Revd Dermot Dunne will preach at the service.

Christmas Day, Saturday 25 December 2010 - Festal Eucharist (11.00)
Sung by the cathedral choir. The setting is Haydn 'Missa Sancti Nicolai'
and communion motet: Lauridsen 'O magnum mysterium'. As is
traditional, the archbishop, the Most Revd Dr John Neill, will preach
in his cathedral on Christmas morning. The archbishop retires in
January 2011, and we wish him well in for the future.

Thursday 30 December 2010 - Concert: Handel’s Messiah - excerpts (13.15)
A lunchtime concert of excerpts from Handel's 'Messiah' takes place
on Thursday 30 December at 1.15pm. Usual entrance charges apply.

Friday 31 December 2010 - Concert: Dublin New Year Festival (21.00)
