Sunday 1 February 2009 - Candlemas Procession (17.00)
Candlelit procession sung by the cathedral choir including
works by Byrd, Hadley, Holst and Howells.

Monday 2 February 2009 - St Paul's Academy Concert (13.15)
The choir of St Paul's Academy, London, directed by Siobhan
Presencer, and accompanied by pianist David Fairburn will
perform a lunchtime concert in the cathedral on Monday 2
February 2009 at 1.15pm. The choir was formed in 2007
and this is their first tour. David Fairburn is a jazz pianist
who studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Sung by the cathedral girls' choir and a consort of lay

Plainsong 'Magnificat' and Holst 'Nunc Dimittis', and
anthem: Eccard 'When to the temple Mary went'.

Sunday 22 February 2009 - Gift of Sport Service (15.30)
The sixtieth annual service of thanksgiving for the gift of sport
will be held at the cathedral on Sunday 22 February 2009
at 3.30pm. The guest speaker will be Doreen Howe, the
President of the Irish Hockey Foundation and there will
be a collection in aid of Blackrock Hospice. All are most

Ash Wednesday 25 February 2009 - Orchestral Concert (20.00)
Dublin University Orchestral Society will hold their Hilary Term
concert in the cathedral on Wednesday 25 February at 8.00pm.
Works performed will include: Tchaikovsky 'Symphony No. 6',
Mozart 'Flute and Harp Concerto' and Rossini 'Overture to the
Barber of Seville'. Conducted by Michael Day, the soloists are
Niall Murphy and Aine Balfe. For details of the Dublin University

Friday 27 February 2009 - Crypt Table Quiz (19.30)
The third annual table quiz will be held in the crypt on Friday
27 February 2009 at 7.30pm in aid of ALONE and
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders).
The cost is 40 euro for a table of four, which will include
a raffle on the night and refreshments. For details see:

Saturday 28 February 2009 - Choral Vespers (17.00)
Sung to chant by the cathedral choir and the participants from a
Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) workshop. The workshop
which begins at 11.00 and explores the versatility of plainsong will
be led by Eamonn Manning of Schola Gregoriana Belfast. All welcome.
