Tea and coffee will be available in the cathedral in return
for a donation to raise money for the Alzheimers Association.

Friday 2 May 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
The Green River High School Choir from Wyoming
will perfom a concert of sacred and secular works
including the works of Byrd and Bach, as well as
arrangements by Tommie Pardue, Neil Johnson
and Mark Hayes. Conducted by Thane Yennie,
Director of Choral Music at Green River High School.

Saturday 3 May 2008 - Choral Evensong (18.00)
Sung by the lay vicars choral, choral evensong today
commemorates the 130th anniversary of the reopening
of the cathedral on St Philip and St James day, 1878,
following the restoration by George Edmund Street.

Monday 5 - 10 May 2008 - Exhibition of Greek Icons (10.00-17.00)
An exhibition of contemporary Greek Icons, organised by the
Gordon Gallery in Derry, will take place in the crypt on 5-10 May
in the crypt during normal opening hours. An illustrated catalogue
will accompany the exhibition which had numerous contributions
including one by Canon Patrick Comerford, Director of Spiritual
Formation at the Church of Ireland Theological College, Dublin.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Tuesday 6 May.

Tuesday 6 May 2008 - Episcopal Electoral College (10.15)
An episcopal electoral college will be held in the cathedral
to choose a new bishop of Limerick and Killaloe following
the retirement of the Right Revd Michael Mayes. A decision
will probably be made between 15.00 and 17.00.

Tuesday 6 May 2008 - Lunchtime Lecture (13.15)
The cathedral will hold a series of four lunchtime lectures
on the Tuesdays of May on the 130th anniversary of the
reopening of the cathedral following its restoration by
George Edmund Street, funded by Henry Roe. The first
lecture will be given by Dr Michael O'Neill entitled 'The
George Edmund Street Restoration Campaign' and
will take place in the chapter room. Admission free.

Friday 9 May 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
Eggkleiva Mannskor, the Norwegian Male Voice Choir will give
a concert in the cathedral on Friday 9 May at 1.15pm, when
they will sing a selection of national songs from Norway and
choral works by Schubert, Rossini, Biebl and Nystedt and more.
Entrance to the concert is included in the admission charge.

Saturday 10 May 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
The Harmony Men from Jersey will give a lunchtime recital
on Saturday 10 May at 1.15pm. Founded in 1992, the Harmony
Men consist of about 40 singers, and enjoys a wide variety
of musical styles. The choir is directed by Nicholas Cabot.

The cathedral will hold a series of four lunchtime lectures
on the Tuesdays of May on the 130th anniversary of the
reopening of the cathedral following its restoration by
George Edmund Street, funded by Henry Roe. The second
lecture will be given in the crypt by Mr Paul Arnold, cathedral
architect entitled 'G.E. Street: conservator or restorer?'

'Keeping the Piece[s]: Street's Medieval Stone Collection'.

Saturday 24 May 2008 - Medieval Dublin Conference (09.45)
The 10th annual Friends of Medieval Dublin conference
will take place in Trinity College at 09.45 in the Robert
Emmett Theatre (Room 2037) in the Arts Buildings. Topics
covered will include Viking and Hiberno-Norse and semi-aquatic
excavations of medieval Dublin, a study of the benefactors
of the hospital of St John the Baptist, the fourteenth century
outlaws, the Tyrel brothers, the church site of Teach Naithí,
in Dundrum, and finally an account of the recent voyage of
the Viking longship, the Sea Stallion from Roskilde to Dublin.

The Dublin Orchestral Players will give a concert in

on the Tuesdays of May on the 130th anniversary of the
reopening of the cathedral following its restoration by
George Edmund Street, funded by Henry Roe. The fourth
lecture will be given by Mrs Lesley Whiteside entitled
'"Perfectly disgusted
utterly disgraced”: Street’s verdict
on Hardman’s failure to complete their stained glass
commission in time for the re-consecration', and will
take place in the chapter house. Admission free and all

Thursday 29 May 2008 - Choral Evensong and Installation (20.00)
The installation of the Venerable Dermot Dunne, archdeacon of
Ferns as dean of Christ Church will take place at evensong on
Thursday 29 May at 8.00pm. The Venerable Dermot Dunne was
appointed by the Archbishop John Neill of Dublin on 25 February.
