Saturday 2 December 2006 - Concerts @ Christ Church 5 (13.15)
Judy Lambert, a soprano lay clerk in the cathedral choir, accompanied
on the piano by Tristan Russcher, acting assistant organist, will give a
recital on Saturday 2 December at lunchtime. Further details of the

Sunday 3 December 2006 - Evening Prayer (15.30)
As the Advent Procession takes place this Sunday,
said evening prayer will replace choral evensong.

Sunday 3 December 2006 - Advent Procession (17.00)
Sung by the combined cathedral choirs, the Advent Procession
is a service of carols and readings by candlelight, and will include
Bairstow 'Let all mortal flesh', Hough 'Advent Calendar', Britten
'Hymn of St Columba' and Finzi 'Magnificat'. The service will be
filmed and recorded for a DVD, and the congregation is invited to
be seated by 4.50pm at the latest.

Wednesday 6 December 2006 - Evening Prayer (17.00)
Evening prayer will be said at Christ Church. The congregation is also
invited to attend choral evensong at nearby St Patrick's cathedral at
17.45, when the service will be sung by the combined girls' choirs
and lay vicars of St Patrick's and Christ Church cathedrals.

Wednesday 6 December 2006 - Choral Evensong (17.45 @ St Patrick's)
Sung by the combined girls' choirs and lay clerks of both Christ Church
and St Patrick's cathedrals, the music will include Leighton responses,
Leighton 'Colleguim Madgalenae Oxoniensis' and Britten 'A hymn

Saturday 9 December 2006 - Amnesty Christmas Concert (20.00)
Amnesty International hold their annual Christmas concert,
'Carols for Freedom' at Christ Church on Saturday 9 December at 8pm.
With Bethan Kilfoil as MC, artists will include: John Spillane and Louis
De Paor (The Gaelic Hit Factory), Fil Campbell (RTÉ Songbirds Series),
the cathedral choir, directed by Judy Martin, organists, Tristan Russcher
and Eoin Tierney, soprano, Sylvia O'Brien and Liam Lawton. Doors open
7.30pm (8pm start), and tickets are 25 available from Ticketmaster:

Friday 15 December 2006 - 3Rock Christmas Concert (19.30)
3Rock will hold their Christmas youth carols service at Christ Church,
called 'Essential at Christ Church'. Billed as a multimedia Christmas carol
experience where 'Nostalgia becomes a Reality, this is the first of two
carol services, the second of which will take place in St Saviour's, Arklow
in Glendalough diocese. Admission is free, but pre-booking is advised

Sung by the cathedral choir, the preacher will be the dean, the
Very Revd Desmond Harman. Music will include Haydn, 'Missa
Sancti Nicolai' and Mathias 'A babe is born', with concluding
organ voluntary, Vierne 'Final (Symphonie VI)'.

Monday 25 December 2006 - Festal Christmas Eucharist (11.00)
Sung by the cathedral choir, the preacher will be the archbishop,
the Most Revd Dr John Neill. Music will include Palestrina 'Missa
Hodie Christus natus est', Poulenc 'O magnum mysterium' and
concluding organ voluntary, Widor 'Toccata (Symphonie V)'.

Tuesday 26 December 2006 - Cathedral closed (10.00 - 17.00)
On St Stephen's day, the cathedral will remain closed to visitors.
