Saturday 5 February 2005 - Girls' Choir Workshop (10.00)
The Cathedral Girls' Choir will undertake an all-day workshop
with Áine Mulvey and Patrick Craig on Saturday 5 February.
Áine Mulvey is a lay clerk with the cathedral choir, a vocal
coach, and conductor of the AIB choir. Patrick Craig is a
vicar choral in St Paul's cathedral choir, a member of the
Tallis Scholars, and conductor of the all-female professional
choir, Aurora Nova. His details can be found online at:

Saturday 5 February 2005 - Choral Evensong (17.00)
Choral Evensong sung by the Cathedral Girls’ Choir will be
directed by Patrick Craig following the choir's all-day
workshop. The music to be sung will include: Elgar
'Doubt not thy Father’s care', Archer responses,
Jeffcoat 'The Third Service' and How 'Day by day'.

Monday 7 February 2005 - Evening Art & Music Lecture (19.00)
The first in a series of lectures on Art & Music in the life of the
Christian Church will take place on Monday 7 February, beginning
at 7.00pm. Each evening will take the form of two distinct but
complementary lectures on art and music respectively.
The first of these will be given by artist and course director,
Aonghus Dwane on 'Early Christian images and icons', while
the musical component will be given on 'Liturgical chant'
by Frank Lawrence, a doctoral student at the Mícheál
Ó Cléirigh Institute, UCD, and lay clerk in the cathedral choir.

Ash Wednesday 9 February 2005 - Ash Wednesday Eucharist (18.00)
The Ash Wednesday service will take the form of  the Eucharist,
a liturgy of penitence and imposition of ashes. Music to include:
Byrd 'Mass for four voices', Allegri 'Miserere mei' and
Tallis 'Salvator mundi'.

Sunday 13 February 2005 - Cathedral Eucharist (11.00)
The cathedral eucharist will be sung by the tenor and bass lay clerks.
Canon Kennerley will preach her final sermon at the cathedral before
retiring at the end of the month. The setting is 'Plainsong Mass XVII',
and anthem Tomkins 'Have mercy upon me'.

Monday 14 February 2005 - Evening Art & Music Lecture (19.00)
The second in a series of lectures on Art & Music in the life of the
Christian Church will take place on Monday 14 February, beginning
at 7.00pm. Each evening will take the form of two distinct but
complementary lectures on art and music respectively.
The second of these will be given by Rachel Moss, lecture and
archives manager of the Irish Art Research Centre (TRIARC)
on 'Architectural fabric & Christian symbolism'. Andrew Johnstone,
cathedral associate organist and lecturer at Trinity College Dublin,
will speak on 'The organ' from the organ.

complementary lectures on art and music respectively.
The third of these will be given by Jennifer O'Reilly of UCC
on 'Illuminated manuscripts', while Barra Boydell of Maynooth
University, well known on the cathedral's musical history, will speak
on the topic of 'Reformation: continuity and change'.

Based on a 15th-century breviary now in the library of Trinity College
Dublin, the Scottish group, Canty, will on Friday 4 February 2005
perform the liturgy of the office of St Brigit in a concert setting in
the chapel of Trinity College Dublin. Tickets available on the door.
