Music Lessons

Our part-time music teacher, Mr. Tony Attallah teaches our students to play oud (local instrument), violin, organ, and piano. Each student is allowed to develop his/her music skills, at his own pace, and on an instrument of choice.

The piano tuning course is not on offer currently. Some of our residents who took this course in previous years are able to do piano tuning and restoration work. We hope to offer this course again in the future, when we succeed in recruiting a qualified piano tuning technician.

Our school is well equipped with a center for piano tuning and restoration. We have many pianos of different kinds, each isolated in a sound-proof room and provided with all the necessary tools. The course is a three to four year program depending on the achievement of the individual student. The first year program includes an introduction to Music, the piano and all its parts, emphasizing the theoretical side of tuning with the objective of achieving an acceptable background of music knowledge and understanding, full familiarity with the parts of the piano and the way it operates, and a good perception of piano tuning and restoration. Limited  practical skills of piano tuning are also taught the first year.

Key Benefits

  • Acquiring music knowledge
  • Learning about the theory of piano tuning and restoration
  • Getting a practical experience and knowledge of the piano.
