First of all, welcome! You have subscribed to a mailing list
which will bring you news and views from the Canadian Anglican
General Synod, happening in Ottawa, Ontario between June 1
and June 9, 1995.

Throughout the Synod, you will receive daily reports of the
actions Synod members have taken on behalf of the national church,
and I hope to give you a sense of the overall picture of what
being at a General Synod is like.

This mailing list and its website is not formally affiliated with
the Anglican Church of Canada or the General Synod in any way.
I'm just a delegate to the General Synod who hopes to offer some
background for interested people not able to be in Ottawa.

How much mail can you expect? Not much at all. I'm hoping you'll
find this list high in content, not quantity. You will likely
receive two messages late each evening:

  1. A rundown of actions taken by Synod members on the floor
of the plenary, provided by the Communications Staff of the
national church; (it will be broadcast to the list un-edited
     as provided to me), and

  2. A nightly newsletter covering more of the colours, images, and
     thoughts from Synod.

A brief list update will be sent to your mailbox every other day
until Synod begins June 1, at which point the two-messages-per-night
plan should kick in until the end of Synod on June 9.

This is a one-way mailing list. You will be able to receive messages
from the list, but you (like your fellow subscribers) are not able
to send messages to it. Think of it as a newswire, like the
Associated Press, and not a talk show. Any messages sent to the list
will be politely returned to you by the mail robot.

If you'd like to get in touch with me, feel free to e-mail me at
"tod@direct.ca" -- but be warned that I likely won't be able to get
back to you until well after Synod.

It's important that I recognize the contribution to this list made
by Infomatch Internet in Burnaby, B.C., who are donating the entire
storage space, server time, and configuration work for this Synod
mailing list and the entire Anglicans Online! website.

Finally, you're welcome to manually forward the list traffic to a
friend, but please don't use an automated function for this (i.e.
blind bouncing). No fee may be charged for distribution of the
mailing list traffic, nor may it be archived or stored on any medium
for which a fee is paid.

If you decide you want to leave the list early, just send an e-mail
to "synod95@infomatch.com" with the words "unsubscribe synod-list"
in the message body.

That's about it. I hope you'll enjoy the list and be able to keep
more up to date about General Synod as it moves forward.
Again, welcome! Enjoy your stay.
