First of all, welcome! This is the first mailing of Synod
NEWSlink, a daily newsletter live from the floor of General
Synod. This issue is a bit different, of course, since
Synod has not yet begun.

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!
As you are among the first fifty (or so) people who have
subscribed to this list, I'd ask that you help "spread the
word" -- especially those of you reading this from large
systems such as Ecunet, America Online, or Compuserve.
Please leave a message or two in some forums or groups
you frequent, letting people know this list exists and how
they can subscribe. Details are below.

GUINEA PIG ANYONE?
As this is the first broadcast of this list, I'd appreciate
hearing from you if this message comes out gobbledeegook,
with weird line breaks, etc. It's important it's going
correctly before Synod actually gets underway Thursday.

JOIN US IN A VIDEO TELECONFERENCE
I've just heard that some Canadian cities will be linked up
to the Human Sexuality forum by satelite video live from
Ottawa. Cities I've heard are Vancouver (Christ Church
Cathedral), Toronto, and Montreal. I'd recommend you call
your diocesan Synod office and ask if your diocese is
holding such a viewing, and where. I believe it's June 5.
Should make for interesting viewing.

LIST ALSO AVAILABLE ON ANGLINET SYSTEMS
Just for the record, this list will also be broadcast to all
Anglinet BBS systems, through NWnet -- the Diocese of New
Westminster's e-mail system.

And now I'd like to introduce you to "Your Turn," what I
hope will be your chance for offering feedback to this list.
Have any thoughts about Synod before it gets underway? How
about being Anglican generally speaking? Any issues you'll
be watching with interest?
This is *your* section. Please take advantage of it.
E-mail me at "tod@direct.ca" with the words "your turn" in
the subject header. I'm hoping for a mini-essay each night,
but will take what I get. Looking forward to hearing
from you!

During Synod, this section will cover the following day's
agenda in full detail. For tomorrow, no official Synod
activities are planned, though most members and officers of
Synod begin arriving.
