Listlings,
I went to Savannah's wake tonight. I'd put together a 16-page printout of
the very best of the prayers you sent, as well as a two-age list of those
who'd sent briefer prayers. The family found your prayers immensely
comforting. They're people of faith, and you said what they need to hear.
One thing for which I have to ask forgiveness, since there wasn't time to
get permission: I hadn't known Savannah's father's name, or whether he was
close to his daughter. It was Matt, and he was -- very. One of the
loveliest things I saw at the wake was a photo of Savannah on her first day
home from the hospital, lying on her father's chest, both looking very
contented. On impulse, just before I went to the wake, I modified many of
the prayers to include Matt as well. I hope that's all right with you. If
not, it's too late.
It matters enormously to the family that prayers are coming from so far and
wide. And Savannah looked beautiful. She was apparently the happiest of
babies, and she brought love and reconciliation to her family in her short
time with them.
Molly
