Dear all,
I am struggling, as I am sure others are, with a certain amount of anger.
It is not focused on one person necessarily; rather it is self pointing and
dispersed. I am not sure that an earlier intervention would have yielded
much different results but it might have help prevent such damage.
Nonetheless, what is done is done. We can beat ourselves or each other and
it won't change a thing.

There are lessons for all of us -- silence is only good during the quiet
times. Fear of hurting feelings or causing a fracas is not a reason to
remain silent if one suspects there is a problem. I have always had a
problem with Matthew 18:17. alas...

Regardless, I do not feel that this is a death knell for the community; nor
do I think selling the Motherhouse is a good idea. I do like the idea of
the "repristinization" of the Rivendell Community...at least the
Motherhouse.

I do note that these are things to talk about in the future -- at the
special meeting.

I just wanted to say that one person cannot make a community..or break it.
It takes many parts. This is clearly (to me at least) an opportunity to see
"how firm a foundation" it is upon which we are built.

Now...do you have the earwig How Firm a Foundation stuck in your head? :-)

in love and prayer...and great thanksgiving for each of you

*“For surely I know the plans I have for you,… plans for your welfare
and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon
me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you
will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, …
and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and
all the places where I have driven you, … and I will bring you back to the
place from which I sent you into exile." *Jeremiah 29:11-14
