Religious leaders call for new hearts
BY BOSCO R. ASIIMWE
Anglican Church leaders in the region have urged Christians and Rwandans to have a new heart and spirit as a basis for promoting the national agenda.
The clergymen made the call on Sunday during a prayer service that ended a four-day international convention held at Amahoro stadium under a theme: “A new heart, a new spirit for an individual.”

The convention organized by the Anglican church of Rwanda-Kigali diocese was also attended by Archbishops, Bishops and other clergy members from East Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and South Africa.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev Henry Luke Orombi, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda, observed that unless the people’s hearts are transformed, there will be less contribution to the development of the country.
“This is the time for Rwanda to be liberated,” Orombi noted. “The Lord needs everyone to have a new heart, forget the past, focus on the present and the future.”
The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Emmanuel Kolini, observed that Rwanda has taken a step in development 15-years after Genocide against the Tutsi in which over a million people were killed and left the country in shambles.
He urged the clergymen to stand up and help the government in reconciling and uniting the people.
