*While most of you will not be in Geneva to be able to take advantage of

*Cathedral event to promote remembrance and reconstruction for Haiti *

Geneva’s St Pierre Cathedral (Protestant) is set to host an ecumenical
celebration of music and meditation for Haiti on 30 October 2010 at 18h00.

*Psalms for Haiti*

Featuring the accomplished choirs of the Anglican and Episcopal Churches in
Geneva, ‘Psalms for Haiti’ will commemorate those who died in January’s
devastating earthquake and be in solidarity with those who are rebuilding.
The music and accompanying words of reflection will lead event-goers in a
spiritual exploration of some of the best- and least-known Biblical psalms.

Testimonies will be heard from Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, *General
Secretary, World Council of Churches, *Yasmina Tippenhaueur, *Director,
Terra Inc**ó**gnita – Charte pour la reconstruction d'Haïti*, and Rev Canon
Ogé Beauvoir*, Dean of the Episcopal Seminary, Port-au-Prince*, who will
provide insightful and inspiring information about the situation now and
about the wide range of social and educational projects run by the Haitian
Cathedral – both before and after the earthquake. A multimedia display will
show Haiti then, destroyed, and living on.

While entrance is free to all, ‘Psalms for Haiti’ will raise funds for the
reconstruction of the Episcopal Cathedral of Holy Trinity in Port-au-Prince
and its educational and cultural complex. This is an opportunity for all to
be in solidarity with the Episcopal Church of Haiti as they continue to
serve all the people of Haiti.

Originally initiated by Anglicans and Episcopalians living in Geneva,
‘Psalms for Haiti’ is supported by many different Churches and Christian
communities based in the city. It also has the full support of the Eglise
Protestante de Genève, the Bishops of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches
in Europe (TEC) and of the Diocese in Europe (Church of England), as well as
the Bishop of Haiti, Mgr Jean Zaché Duracin.

On Sunday, The Rev. Canon Ogé Beauvoir, Dean of the Theological Seminary of
the Episcopal Church of Haiti, will be at Emmanuel Episcopal Church to
preach and to give a forum after the service to talk in much greater depth
about the Episcopal Church and what they are doing in the aftermath of the
earthquake.
