I have just received the call that the Rev. Dr. Michael Vono was elected Bishop of Rio Grande on the third ballot today, by large majorities. See http://www.dioceserg.org/

The majority of bishops and standing committees will have to consent to his election within the next 120 days.

Let us give thanks to the Spirit for the Diocese's new bishop-elect, and pray God's mercy and grace upon their new leader. And let us pray for St. Paul's Rome as they enter a new phase in the long life of that great parish.

The consecration is set for October 15 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
