Please join me in welcoming St James' new rector!
Pray for Fr MArk and Dottie as they make the difficult transition
across the Atlantic. We know what that feels like!
And pray also for St James' people as they make ready for their new
priest.
Blessings,
Bishop Pierre

> New rector at St. James Church
>
> The Reverend Canon T. Mark Dunnam and his wife Dottie are overjoyed
> to be joining the richness and vibrancy of life and fellowship at St
> James, Florence. Canon Dunnam comes to St. James from the Diocese
> of the Central Gulf Coast where he has served as Canon to the
> Ordinary. He worked in the administration and program of a diocese
> of 63 congregations. He brings a wide variety of expertise and
> interests in congregational development and community outreach, as
> well as ecumenical and inter-faith relations, and Benedictine
> spirituality. His background includes serving as a three-term
> Deputy to General Convention and as a member of the Board of
> Trustees of his alma mater, The General Theological Seminary in New
> York City.
>
> On a personal note, Canon Dunnam appreciates the Arts, especially
> abstract expressionism. He is a painter, enjoys gardening, cooking
> for dinner parties, and strolls in the park.
>
> Dottie, affectionately called "Miss Dottie" by many students and
> friends, enjoys teaching piano and cooking. She is a member of the
> International Piano Teaching Foundation where she does consulting
> work in piano pedagogy. When she visited Firenze in July, she left
> her heart with the people she met from St. James. Now, she happily
> looks forward to packing Marcella Hazan's The Classic Italian
> Cookbook and beginning her new life in that special place.
>
> Mark and Dottie also eagerly anticipate introducing their daughters,
> Sheridan and Elizabeth, to the parish.
> Canon Dunnam says: "I am excited about being your new rector at
> this time of Centenary at the beginning of a new chapter in the life
> of St. James Church. I look forward to putting down roots there,
> and our future ministry together."
>
> Please join us on October 11, 2009, for their first service.
>
> We hope to see you soon.
