For this year's November concerts, the internationally acclaimed
and award-winning chamber choir New Dublin Voices and their
conductor Bernie Sherlock present Stuff and Nonsense, a celebration
of the marriage of nonsense and music.

Thursday 25 & Friday 26 November 2010 – Freeplay Performance (13.15):
'FreePlay’, the inaugural winner of the arts at DIT award, is a
multidisciplinary multimedia performance, that will happen
over two lunchtime concerts in the unique surroundings of
the crypt in Christ Church cathedral.

Saturday 27 November 2010 – Christmas Market & Santa in the Crypt (12.00)
Reviving a centuries old tradition of markets in the atmospheric eleventh-century
crypt, we are delighted to be holding our first Christmas market where all sorts
of exciting craft and Christmas goods will be on sale. Santa will be arriving in his
carriage on 27 November and will be taking up residence in his new grotto. Tickets
to visit Santa will be available on the day and prices begin at €15 for one child
and one adult. Entrance to the Christmas market is included in admission to
the cathedral. Anyone interested in having a stall at the market should contact
lesley-anne at cccdub.ie

Wednesday 1 December 2010 – Concert: KISD Choir (13.15)
The KISD Choir from Kermit Texas is a mixed high school choir
directed by Vicki Pigmon. They will be performing sacred and
spiritual music for their concert in Christ Church Cathedral. Recent tours
have included St Nicholas’ Cathedral in Prague as well as venues in
Germany and the Czech Republic. The usual entrance charges will apply.

Wednesday 1 December 2010 – Concert: Trinity Orchestra (20.00)
Trinity Orchestra Michaelmas Term Concert conducted by Liam Ryan,
and violin solo by Colm O'Braoin. Programme: Franck, Symphony in D minor;
Shostakovich, Violin Concerto No. 1; Dukas - Brass Fanfare from La Péri.
Tickets: €15 for adults, €5 for students (available at the door).

The Mother's Union Eucharist will take place in the chapel of

The Alternative Christmas Experience. Featuring music by
the Discovery Gospel Choir and DJ Sam Stott as well as The Fire Guys,

Saturday 4 December 2010 – Concert: Hibernian Orchestra (20.00)
To celebrate their 30th Anniversary Season, the Hibernian Orchestra
has some exciting performances planned for 2010/2011. They begin
by welcoming guitarist Redmond O’Toole who will perform Joaquin
Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez on his 8-string ‘Brahms’ guitar,
played in a cello position. O’Toole was one of the first to adopt this
unusual playing style—this is a performance not to be missed. In
addition, they will be performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7
and Coriolan Overture. The concert will be conducted by John
Finucane. Tickets available at the door: €15, concessions €12,

Sunday 5 December 2010 – Concert: St Lucia (18.00)
The Adolf Fredrick Youth Choir from Stockholm will perform
a traditional Swedish Lucia procession. They will sing both
International Christmas carols and typical Swedish Christmas

Handel, Messiah (part one) with orchestra.

Sunday 12 December 2010 - Taizé Service (17.00)
A special Taizé service will take place in the cathedral crypt
and main nave on Sunday 12 December 2010 at 5.00pm. This is
has been organised by the Diocesan Ministry of Healing and
the Diocesan Lay Ministry. The beautiful chants of Taizé will
accompany the liturgy which will be a Eucharist with the laying

Monday 20 December 2010 – Service of Nine Lessons and Carols (20.00)
What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by attending one of
our traditional carol services, where beautiful voices blend with stunning
architecture to create an unmissable yuletide experience. Free tickets can
be obtained by sending a stamped addressed envelope marked ‘Nine Lessons’
to the cathedral office. This is a very popular service so those interested are
encouraged to apply early for tickets.

As is traditional, the archbishop, the Most Revd Dr John Neill,
will preach in his cathedral on Christmas morning. The archbishop
retires in January 2011, and we wish him well in for the future.
