Tuesday 19 January 2010 - Candlelit Vigil (17.00)
A candlelit vigil, organised by UNICEF Ireland, will be held in
the grounds of the cathedral today at 5.00pm for the victims
of the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti that has claimed an
estimated 50,000 lives and left over 3 million people in need
of urgent humanitarian assistance. The vigil will allow the Irish
public to come together and show their solidarity for the victims
of the Haitian earthquake. Candles will be provided to all attending,
and the cathedral bells will also ring at 5.15pm. All are welcome.

Tuesday 19 January 2010 - Sung Compline (18.00)
Following the candlelit vigil, the office of Compline to end the day
will be sung by a consort of the cathedral choir. An introit will also
be sung: William Blitheman, 'In Pace' and an anthem will conclude
the service, the rarely heard gem from the Eton choirbook by William
Cornysh, 'Salve Regina'. Again, all are welcome to attend this service.

Friday 22 January 2010 - Irish Ecumenical Service (20.00)
An interdenominational service in Irish will be held on Friday 22
January at 8.00pm. The preacher will be an tAthair Leon Ó Giolláin SJ,
and the choir are from Gaelscoil Chill Dheagláin, Ashbourne, Co Meath.
An altar frontal in memory of Leaslaoi Ó Briain, the former Hon Secretary
of the Guild, who died in 2007, will be dedicated at this service. A
reception
will be held in the crypt after the service. All are most welcome.

Wednesday 27 January 2010 - DICE Project Seminar Series (18.00)
As part of the Global Dimensions Seminar Series organised by the
Development and InterCultural Education (DICE) project, Dr Catríona
Ní Laoire of University College Cork will give a seminar entitled:
'Tell me about yourself': learning from children-centred research
with migrant children and youth. The seminar will take place in the
chapter room of the cathedral on Wednesday 27 January 2010 at 6.00pm.
Places are free but limited so early booking is strongly encouraged.

Sunday 31 January 2010 - Candlemas Procession (17.00)
The Candlemas procession will take place in the cathedral
at 5.00pm. Sung by the cathedral choir, the music will include
the Nunc Dimittis from Weelkes, 'Evening Service for five voices',
and anthems by Finnissy, 'In mense autem'; Berkeley, 'In Wintertime',
Eccard, 'When to the temple Mary went' and O'Reagan, 'Threshold'.
