Friday 19 September 2008 - Culture Night (17.20 - 23.00)
Culture Night returns to the cathedral this year on Friday
19 September. This will include a free tour of the medieval
crypt including the treasury exhibition and the exhibit
celebrating 130 years since the restoration of the cathedral.

Saturday 20 September 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
The choir of St Lars church from Linköping, Sweden will
perform romantic music from the 19th and 20th centuries
by Swedish composers, conducted by Staffan Holm.

Saturday 20 September 2008 - Exhibition opening (18.00)
Following choral evensong, an exhibition entitled: 'Christ Church
Cathedral Dublin, 1878-2008, marking the 130th anniversary of
the restoration of the cathedral, which has been running in the
crypt for the last month, will be officially opened by Professor
Roger Stalley of Trinity College, who has written extensively

Saturday 27 September 2008 - RSCM Evensong (17.00)
On Saturday 27 September, choral evensong will be sung
by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for life
medal winners along with the altos, tenors and basses of the
cathedral choir. Canon John Flaherty, administrator of St Mary's
Pro-Cathedral will be in attendance to assist the dean in presenting
award winners with their certificates of achievement. All are most

Sunday 28 September 2008 - Evensong & Installation of Canons (15.30)
The archbishop will install two new canons of Christ Church, Robert
Deane and Mark Gardner (the dean's vicar) on St Michael and All Angels,
Sunday 28 September 2008 at 15.30 during evensong when music
and theology certificates will also be presented. All are most welcome.

Friday 3 October 2008 - Diocesan School Service (19.30)
The annual diocesan service for primary & junior schools
will take place on Friday 3 October at 7.30pm. The preacher
will be the Revd Andrew McCroskery, the new vicar of
St Bartholomew's, Clyde Road. All are most welcome.

at which the girls' choir commissioning will take place.

Monday 13 October 2008 - Spiorad service (19.00)
Spiorad, a service of Celtic meditation takes place on the
second Monday of the month. It explores the life and
ministry of a Celtic saint as an integral part of each service,
in this case, Saint Móibhí. All are most welcome.

Wednesday 15 October 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
Ensemble Alte Musik, a group founded in 2000 as part of the
teaching of the Music School in Dessau, will give a lunchtime
concert at the cathedral at 1.15pm on Wednesday 15 October.
The concert is presented by St Finian’s Lutheran Church in
cooperation with the Goethe-Institut, and will play a selection
from composers including Bach, Dubourg, Farmer, Fasch, Händel,
Röllig, Roseingrave, Schein, Scheidt, Schütz, & Geminiani.

Wednesday 15 October 2008 - Evening Prayer (17.00)
Choral Evensong will instead be sung by the choirs
of Christ Church and St Patrick's cathedrals at 17.45
in at St Patrick's cathedral. Responses: Leighton,
Preces and responses, canticles: Dyson, Evening
Service in D and anthem: Bairstow 'Blessed city,
heavenly Salem'.

Thursday 16 October 2008 - Cathedral Choir Concert (20.00)
Sung by the cathedral choir with the orchestra of St Cecilia,
this concert will features performances of the Mozart and
Durufleé Requiems, and marks the launch of of a new orchestral
outreach scheme. Tickets are €20, and €10 for unsighted seats,
and are available from the music department: 01-678099 (and

Friday 17 October 2008 - Lunchtime Concert (13.15)
Sung by the choir of St Anthonys Girls School, Sunderland.
The choir was founded in 2003 and is directed by the schools
vocal tutor Mrs Teresa Dewhurst. Repertoire will include Arcadelt,
Dewhurst, Franck, Rutter, Simon & Garfunkel, Vivaldi, White

Saturday 1 November 2008 - Evening Prayer (17.00)
Evening prayer will be said as a sung eucharist will be
sung by the lay vicars choral and gap year scholars
at All Saint's Grangegorman at 18.00. Caesar 'Missa Brevis',
offertory motet Schütz 'Selig sind die Toten' and communion
motet Elgar 'Ave, verum corpus'.
